There are three felt types that I primarily use to build hats.  I DO NOT USE WOOL FELT.

I do not use the "X" rating system of rating quality.  This rating system has no standard and companies use it however they want.  I simply tell you percentages.

1. The first and least expensive is 100 % European fur felt (rabbit/hare).  These hats are great for everyday wear and dress / fashion hats.  They can withstand light rain and snow.  

2. The second level is a blend of 50% European fur felt and 50% beaver.  Beaver is known for its water repellency and shine.  These hats look and feel better and can withstand much more exposure to the elements.  Most "off the shelf" hats are not close to this quality.

3. The third level is 100% beaver felt.   This is the best quality and has an excellent shine and weather repellency.  These are generational hats if cared for properly.

Shag / grizzly hats are 100% European fur felt and have a different (shaggy) finish. 

I can occasionally get a 85% beaver and 15% chinchilla blend felt.  Chinchilla is a just bit softer than beaver but not that noticeable.  

You choose your size, felt type, crown and brim shape, color, hat band type, liner, sweatband color and even thread color if you want.  Many people choose to pick their size, felt type, crown and brim shape and color and let me use my best judgement on the rest.

After payment expect to wait between 4 to 6 weeks.  You're welcome to stay in touch with me about an updated completion time.  Please realize the actual build time is about 2 weeks.  I'm very particular and some things just can't be rushed.  I source materials from all over the world and occasionally we are at their mercy.

If you're spending your hard earned, stolen, borrowed, won or inherited money you deserve to know.  I source the finest materials from all over the world.  My hats are hand blocked, sized, sanded, stitched and shaped.  No two are alike. I'll even laser etch your name into the sweatband.  You simply can't buy these off the rack at a store.
